8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 32, Election Code, is | |
10 | 10 | amended by adding Section 32.0553 to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | Sec. 32.0553. SUSPENSION OF ELIGIBILITY FOR VIOLATION. (a) | |
12 | 12 | The secretary of state shall adopt rules and procedures to allow the | |
13 | 13 | official administering an election to immediately suspend and | |
14 | 14 | replace an election judge or clerk who fails to comply with the | |
15 | 15 | provisions of this code. | |
16 | 16 | (b) The rules and procedures adopted under this section must | |
17 | 17 | include a process for a review and reinstatement of a suspended | |
18 | 18 | election judge's or clerk's eligibility if the election judge or | |
19 | 19 | clerk is not finally convicted of an offense in connection with the | |
20 | 20 | violation. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
