| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 6.204, Family Code, is amended by adding | |
| 12 | 12 | Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (d) Notwithstanding Subsection (c) or any other law, the | |
| 14 | 14 | state or an agency or political subdivision of this state may use a | |
| 15 | 15 | same-sex marriage license or similar document recognizing or | |
| 16 | 16 | validating a same-sex marriage or a civil union for the limited | |
| 17 | 17 | purpose of verifying the identity of the person who presents the | |
| 18 | 18 | license or document to the state, agency, or political subdivision. | |
| 19 | 19 | This subsection does not create, recognize, or validate a same-sex | |
| 20 | 20 | marriage or a civil union. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
