75 relating to continuing eligibility requirements for institutions
86 of higher education to participate in the Texas Science,
97 Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (T-STEM) Challenge
108 Scholarship Program.
119 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1210 SECTION 1. Section 61.9794(b), Education Code, is amended
1311 to read as follows:
1412 (b) To maintain eligibility, each year beginning with the
1513 third [second] year following implementation of a scholarship
1614 program under this subchapter, an institution must demonstrate to
1715 the board that at least 70 percent of the institution's T-STEM
1816 Challenge Scholarship recipients [graduates], within twelve
1917 [three] months of receipt of a scholarship [after graduation], are:
2018 (1) employed [by a business in a Science, Technology,
2119 Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field]; or
2220 (2) enrolled in [upper-division] courses leading to a
2321 certificate, associate, or baccalaureate degree in a Science,
2422 Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) field.
2523 SECTION 2. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
2624 shall award scholarships under Subchapter GG, Chapter 61, Education
2725 Code, as amended by this Act, beginning with the 2015-2016 academic
2826 year.
2927 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
