| 16 | 16 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 1. Section 351.901(b), Local Government Code, is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) The commissioners court of a county by contract may |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | donate money to one or more crime stoppers or crime prevention |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | organizations for expenditure by the organizations to meet the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | goals identified in Subsection (a). The total amount of all |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | donations made in a calendar year may not exceed: |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (1) $25,000; or |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (2) $100,000, for a county with a population of one |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | million or more. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
