66 AN ACT
77 relating to a prohibition of restrictions on the grade levels at
88 which a public high school student may be eligible to enroll in a
99 dual credit course.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 28.009(b), Education Code, is amended to
1212 read as follows:
1313 (b) The agency shall coordinate with the Texas Higher
1414 Education Coordinating Board as necessary in administering this
1515 section. The commissioner may adopt rules as necessary concerning
1616 the duties under this section of a school district. The Texas
1717 Higher Education Coordinating Board may adopt rules as necessary
1818 concerning the duties under this section of a public institution of
1919 higher education. A rule may not restrict the grade levels at which
2020 a high school student may be eligible to enroll in a dual credit
2121 course.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
