9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 28.009(b), Education Code, is amended to | |
11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (b) The agency shall coordinate with the Texas Higher | |
13 | 13 | Education Coordinating Board as necessary in administering this | |
14 | 14 | section. The commissioner may adopt rules as necessary concerning | |
15 | 15 | the duties under this section of a school district. The Texas | |
16 | 16 | Higher Education Coordinating Board may adopt rules as necessary | |
17 | 17 | concerning the duties under this section of a public institution of | |
18 | 18 | higher education. A rule may not limit the number of dual credit | |
19 | 19 | courses or hours in which a student may enroll while in high school | |
20 | 20 | or limit the number of dual credit courses or hours in which a | |
21 | 21 | student may enroll each semester or academic year. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 | |
23 | 23 | school year. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
25 | 25 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
26 | 26 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
27 | 27 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
28 | 28 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
