| 15 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 16 | 11 | | SECTION 1. (a) The Sunset Advisory Commission shall |
|---|
| 17 | 12 | | conduct a study of the feasibility and benefits to this state of |
|---|
| 18 | 13 | | abolishing the property tax assistance division of the office of |
|---|
| 19 | 14 | | the comptroller of public accounts and transferring its powers and |
|---|
| 20 | 15 | | duties to an independent agency. |
|---|
| 21 | 16 | | (b) Not later than September 1, 2016, the commission shall |
|---|
| 22 | 17 | | provide a report on the results of the study to the governor, the |
|---|
| 23 | 18 | | lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, |
|---|
| 24 | 19 | | and the appropriate standing committees of the senate and the house |
|---|
| 25 | 20 | | of representatives. |
|---|
| 26 | 21 | | (c) This section expires September 1, 2017. |
|---|
| 27 | 22 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 28 | 23 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 29 | 24 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 30 | 25 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 31 | 26 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
