64 AN ACT
75 relating to certain assessments for children in the conservatorship
86 of the Department of Family and Protective Services.
97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Chapter 266, Family Code, is amended by adding
119 Section 266.012 to read as follows:
1210 Sec. 266.012. COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENTS. (a) Not later
1311 than the 45th day after the date a child enters the conservatorship
1412 of the department, the child shall receive a developmentally
1513 appropriate comprehensive assessment. The assessment must
1614 include:
1715 (1) a screening for trauma; and
1816 (2) interviews with individuals who have knowledge of
1917 the child's needs.
2018 (b) The department shall develop guidelines regarding the
2119 contents of an assessment report.
2220 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
