| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 143.108, Local Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (b-1) If a fire department fills a vacancy under Subsection | |
| 13 | 13 | (b) and a subsequent vacancy is created because of that action, the | |
| 14 | 14 | subsequent vacancy is considered vacant on the date the initial | |
| 15 | 15 | vacancy was filled under Subsection (b). | |
| 16 | 16 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 17 | 17 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 18 | 18 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 19 | 19 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
