8 | 8 | victims from juvenile court records. | |
9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 58, Family Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 58.004 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 58.004. REDACTION OF VICTIM'S PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE | |
13 | 13 | INFORMATION. Notwithstanding any other law, before disclosing any | |
14 | 14 | juvenile court record or file of a child as authorized by this | |
15 | 15 | chapter or other law, the custodian of the record or file must | |
16 | 16 | redact any personally identifiable information about a victim of | |
17 | 17 | the child's delinquent conduct or conduct indicating a need for | |
18 | 18 | supervision who was under 18 years of age on the date the conduct | |
19 | 19 | occurred, unless the information is necessary for an agency to | |
20 | 20 | provide services to the victim or for law enforcement purposes. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act applies to information and documents | |
22 | 22 | relating to juvenile court cases without regard to whether the | |
23 | 23 | conduct that is the basis of the case occurred before, on, or after | |
24 | 24 | the effective date of this Act. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
