| 7 | 7 | | hear Title IV-D cases and child protection cases. |

| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 201.105, Family Code, is amended to read |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 201.105. COMPENSATION OF ASSOCIATE JUDGE. (a) An |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | associate judge appointed under this subchapter is entitled to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | receive from the state a salary in an amount equal to [be determined |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | by a majority vote of the presiding judges of the administrative |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | judicial regions. The salary may not exceed] 90 percent of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | salary paid to a district judge as set by the General Appropriations |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Act. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (b) Notwithstanding any other law, longevity pay paid to an |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | associate judge under Section 659.044, Government Code, is not |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | included as part of the [The] associate judge's salary amount |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | provided by subsection (a) [shall be paid from county funds |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | available for payment of officers' salaries or from funds available |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | from the state and federal government as provided by this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | subchapter]. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (c) The office of court administration in accordance with |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | this subchapter may use federal funds obtained from the Title IV-D |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | agency to cover the costs of an associate judge's salary. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Section 2. Section 201.205, Family Code, is amended to read |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | as follows: |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Sec. 201.205. COMPENSATION OF ASSOCIATE JUDGE. (a) An |

| 46 | 46 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
