55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the coordination and provision of certain health
88 services to veterans.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 531.0058 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 531.0058. ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER FOR VETERANS
1313 SERVICES. The executive commissioner shall appoint for the
1414 commission an associate commissioner for veterans services to:
1515 (1) review programs and benefits available for
1616 veterans; and
1717 (2) make recommendations on the improvement and
1818 coordination of veterans services.
1919 SECTION 2. Section 434.154(a), Government Code, is amended
2020 to read as follows:
2121 (a) The council may, by majority vote, establish the
2222 following coordinating workgroups to focus on specific issues
2323 affecting veterans, servicemembers, and their families:
2424 (1) health;
2525 (2) [or] mental health;
2626 (3) [(2)] employment;
2727 (4) [(3)] higher education;
2828 (5) [(4)] criminal justice;
2929 (6) [(5)] housing;
3030 (7) [(6)] transportation;
3131 (8) [(7)] women veterans; and
3232 (9) [(8)] any other coordinating workgroup considered
3333 necessary.
3434 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
