9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 531.0058 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 531.0058. ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER FOR VETERANS | |
13 | 13 | SERVICES. The executive commissioner shall appoint for the | |
14 | 14 | commission an associate commissioner for veterans services to: | |
15 | 15 | (1) review programs and benefits available for | |
16 | 16 | veterans; and | |
17 | 17 | (2) make recommendations on the improvement and | |
18 | 18 | coordination of veterans services. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 434.154(a), Government Code, is amended | |
20 | 20 | to read as follows: | |
21 | 21 | (a) The council may, by majority vote, establish the | |
22 | 22 | following coordinating workgroups to focus on specific issues | |
23 | 23 | affecting veterans, servicemembers, and their families: | |
24 | 24 | (1) health; | |
25 | 25 | (2) [or] mental health; | |
26 | 26 | (3) [(2)] employment; | |
27 | 27 | (4) [(3)] higher education; | |
28 | 28 | (5) [(4)] criminal justice; | |
29 | 29 | (6) [(5)] housing; | |
30 | 30 | (7) [(6)] transportation; | |
31 | 31 | (8) [(7)] women veterans; and | |
32 | 32 | (9) [(8)] any other coordinating workgroup considered | |
33 | 33 | necessary. | |
34 | 34 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
