A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the office of water and the water advisory committee in
the Department of Agriculture.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Title 7, Agriculture Code, is amended by adding
Chapter 204 to read as follows:
CHAPTER 204. OFFICE OF WATER; WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Sec. 204.001. OFFICE OF WATER. (a) The commissioner shall
establish an office of water within the department.
(b) The office shall support:
(1) the department's goals and objectives related to
agricultural water use; and
(2) the development of programs related to
agricultural water use.
Sec. 204.002. WATER ADVISORY COMMITTEE. (a) The
commissioner shall appoint a water advisory committee to advise the
commissioner, the department, and the office of water on
agricultural water use.
(b) The committee consists of nine members appointed by the
commissioner. The commissioner shall appoint members who represent
diverse sections of agriculture and diverse regions of the state.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
