44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to a study by the Texas Water Development Board regarding
77 the mapping of groundwater in confined and unconfined aquifers.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. The Texas Water Development Board shall conduct
1010 a study to define the quality and quantity of groundwater in this
1111 state in confined and unconfined aquifers. In conducting the
1212 study, the board shall produce a map that shows the area and water
1313 quality of confined and unconfined groundwater aquifers.
1414 SECTION 2. Not later than December 31, 2016, the Texas Water
1515 Development Board shall report the results of the study conducted
1616 under this Act to the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house
1717 of representatives, and the standing committees in the senate and
1818 the house of representatives that have jurisdiction over natural
1919 resources.
2020 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
