8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. The Texas Water Development Board shall conduct | |
10 | 10 | a study to define the quality and quantity of groundwater in this | |
11 | 11 | state in confined and unconfined aquifers. In conducting the | |
12 | 12 | study, the board shall produce a map that shows the area and water | |
13 | 13 | quality of confined and unconfined groundwater aquifers. | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 2. Not later than December 31, 2016, the Texas Water | |
15 | 15 | Development Board shall report the results of the study conducted | |
16 | 16 | under this Act to the lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house | |
17 | 17 | of representatives, and the standing committees in the senate and | |
18 | 18 | the house of representatives that have jurisdiction over natural | |
19 | 19 | resources. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
