55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to funding sources for the repayment of certain
88 speech-language pathologist and audiologist education loans.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 61.9818, Education Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 Sec. 61.9818. PROGRAM FUNDING. The program may be funded
1313 [solely] from:
1414 (1) gifts, grants, and donations solicited and
1515 accepted by the board for the purposes of this subchapter; and
1616 (2) fees collected under Chapter 401, Occupations
1717 Code, in excess of the money required to pay the expenses for the
1818 administration of that chapter.
1919 SECTION 2. Section 401.204, Occupations Code, is amended by
2020 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
2121 (c) Any money from fees collected by the board under this
2222 chapter that remains after payment of the expenses for the
2323 administration of this chapter may be used to fund the loan
2424 repayment program established under Subchapter II, Chapter 61,
2525 Education Code, as added by Chapter 133 (S.B. 620), Acts of the 83rd
2626 Legislature, Regular Session, 2013.
2727 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2828 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2929 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3030 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3131 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
