7	5		relating to the authority of certain municipalities to propose a
8	6		fire control, prevention, and emergency medical services district.
9	7		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
10	8		SECTION 1. Section 344.051, Local Government Code, is
11	9		amended by adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows:
12	10		(a-2) The governing body of a municipality may propose the
13	11		creation of a fire control, prevention, and emergency medical
14	12		services district under this chapter if the municipality is located
15	13		in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of another municipality that
16	14		has a population of 200,000 or more, both of which are located in a
17	15		county with a population of less than 300,000 that is located on the
18	16		international border.
19	17		SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
20	18		a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
21	19		provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
22	20		Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
23	21		Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
