The bill would amend the Government Code to expand the availability of veterans court programs to defendants who were victims of military sexual trauma, as described. The bill would also provide a court more discretion to order participation in a veterans court program if the court found, after considering the defendant's conduct, background and criminal history, that participation would ensure public safety and rehabilitate the veteran. The Office of Court Administration indicates that bill provisions are not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication on the court system.
