10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 572, Government Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 572.069 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 572.069. CERTAIN EMPLOYMENT FOR FORMER STATE OFFICER | |
14 | 14 | OR EMPLOYEE RESTRICTED; CRIMINAL PENALTY. (a) A former state | |
15 | 15 | officer or employee of a state agency who during the period of state | |
16 | 16 | service or employment participated on behalf of a state agency in a | |
17 | 17 | procurement or contract negotiation involving a person may not | |
18 | 18 | accept employment from that person before the second anniversary of | |
19 | 19 | the date the officer's or employee's service or employment with the | |
20 | 20 | state agency ceased. | |
21 | 21 | (b) An individual commits an offense if the individual | |
22 | 22 | violates this section. An offense under this subsection is a Class | |
23 | 23 | A misdemeanor. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. Section 572.069, Government Code, as added by | |
25 | 25 | this Act, applies only to a state officer or employee whose service | |
26 | 26 | or employment with a state agency ceases on or after the effective | |
27 | 27 | date of this Act. | |
28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
