| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 268, Acts of the 55th Legislature, | |
| 11 | 11 | Regular Session, 1957, is amended by adding Section 23 to read as | |
| 12 | 12 | follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 23. The district shall expend 50 percent of any | |
| 14 | 14 | district revenue derived from oil and gas leases or payments from | |
| 15 | 15 | businesses engaged in the production of oil and gas in a manner that | |
| 16 | 16 | will result in a reduction of district water rates for all district | |
| 17 | 17 | customers. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
| 19 | 19 | revenue derived from oil and gas collected on or after September 1, | |
| 20 | 20 | 2015. Revenue collected before that date is governed by the law in | |
| 21 | 21 | effect at the time the revenue was collected, and that law is | |
| 22 | 22 | continued in effect for that purpose. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
