8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 455.203, Occupations Code, is amended by | |
10 | 10 | adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (e) The course of instruction in massage therapy provided by | |
12 | 12 | a licensed massage school is a postsecondary education program. | |
13 | 13 | (f) A massage school that provides instruction to persons | |
14 | 14 | beyond the age of compulsory education is authorized to operate | |
15 | 15 | educational programs in massage therapy at the postsecondary level. | |
16 | 16 | (g) Subsections (e) and (f) shall not create any additional | |
17 | 17 | regulatory authority for the Department or requirements for schools | |
18 | 18 | licensed under this chapter. | |
19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
20 | 20 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
21 | 21 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
22 | 22 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
23 | 23 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
