44 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
55 AN ACT
66 relating to the classification of certain programs as postsecondary
77 education programs.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 455.203, Occupations Code, is amended by
1010 adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows:
1111 (e) The course of instruction in massage therapy provided by
1212 a licensed massage school is a postsecondary education program.
1313 (f) A massage school that provides instruction to persons
1414 beyond the age of compulsory education is authorized to operate
1515 educational programs in massage therapy at the postsecondary level.
1616 (g) Subsections (e) and (f) shall not create any additional
1717 regulatory authority for the Department or requirements for schools
1818 licensed under this chapter.
1919 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2020 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2121 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2222 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2323 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
