77 relating to a court administrator hired by a statutory probate

99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 25.0024, Government Code,
1111 is amended to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 25.0024. COURT COORDINATORS, COURT ADMINISTRATORS
1313 [ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS], AND AUDITORS FOR STATUTORY PROBATE
1414 COURTS.
1515 SECTION 2. Section 25.0024(a), Government Code, is amended
1616 to read as follows:
1717 (a) A judge of a statutory probate court shall hire with the
1818 approval of the commissioners court through the county budget
1919 process a court coordinator, a court administrator [an
2020 administrative assistant], and an auditor for the court.
2121 SECTION 3. Section 25.1034(i), Government Code, is amended
2222 to read as follows:
2323 (i) With the approval of the commissioners court, a judge of
2424 a statutory probate court may appoint a court administrator [an
2525 administrative assistant], a court coordinator, an auditor, and
2626 other staff necessary for the operation of the courts. The
2727 commissioners court, with the advice and counsel of the judges,
2828 sets the salaries of the staff.
2929 SECTION 4. Section 25.2293(j), Government Code, is amended
3030 to read as follows:
3131 (j) The judge of a statutory probate court may appoint a
3232 court administrator [an administrative assistant] and an auditor to
3333 aid the judge in the performance of his duties. The judge sets the
3434 salary of the court administrator [administrative assistant] and
3535 the salary of the auditor by an order entered in the minutes of the
3636 court. The appointments and the salaries may be changed only by
3737 order of the judge. The salaries of the auditor and the court
3838 administrator [administrative assistant] shall be paid monthly out
3939 of the county's general fund or any other fund available for that
4040 purpose.
4141 SECTION 5. On the effective date of this Act a person
4242 serving as an administrative assistant in a statutory probate court
4343 continues service as a court administrator in the statutory probate
4444 court unless otherwise removed as provided by law.
4545 SECTION 6. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
4646 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4747 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4848 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4949 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
