| 13 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 14 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 826, Health and Safety |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 826.018 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Sec. 826.018. LOCAL RABIES CONTROL PROGRAMS. (a) This |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | section applies to a veterinarian who: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (1) is employed by a county or municipality; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) administers or supervises the administration of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | rabies vaccine as part of a local rabies control program |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | established by a county or municipality under this chapter. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (b) A veterinarian described by Subsection (a) is not |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | required to establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | before administering rabies vaccine or supervising the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | administration of rabies vaccine. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (c) To the extent of any conflict between this section and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | any other law or rule relating to the administration of rabies |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | vaccine, this section controls. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
