99 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1010 AN ACT
1111 relating to the administration of rabies vaccine under a local
1212 rabies control program.
1313 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1414 SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 826, Health and Safety
1515 Code, is amended by adding Section 826.018 to read as follows:
1616 Sec. 826.018. LOCAL RABIES CONTROL PROGRAMS. (a) This
1717 section applies to a veterinarian who:
1818 (1) is employed by a county or municipality; and
1919 (2) administers or supervises the administration of
2020 rabies vaccine as part of a local rabies control program
2121 established by a county or municipality under this chapter.
2222 (b) A veterinarian described by Subsection (a) is not
2323 required to establish a veterinarian-client-patient relationship
2424 before administering rabies vaccine or supervising the
2525 administration of rabies vaccine.
2626 (c) To the extent of any conflict between this section and
2727 any other law or rule relating to the administration of rabies
2828 vaccine, this section controls.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3030 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3131 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3232 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3333 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
