77 relating to information regarding the number of school counselors
88 in public schools.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 42.006, Education Code, is amended by
1111 adding Subsection (a-2) to read as follows:
1212 (a-2) The commissioner by rule shall require each school
1313 district and open-enrollment charter school to report through the
1414 Public Education Information Management System information
1515 regarding the availability of school counselors at each campus. The
1616 commissioner's rules shall require a district or school to report
1717 the number of full-time equivalent school counselors providing
1818 counseling services at a campus. For purposes of this subsection,
1919 "full-time equivalent school counselor" means 40 hours of
2020 counseling services a week. The agency shall maintain the
2121 information provided in accordance with this subsection.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
