| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 301, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subchapter Z to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | SUBCHAPTER Z. MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS | |
| 13 | 13 | Sec. 301.901. VACANCY ON FINAL FELONY CONVICTION OF MEMBER | |
| 14 | 14 | OF LEGISLATURE. A member of the legislature convicted of a felony | |
| 15 | 15 | vacates the member's office on the date the conviction becomes | |
| 16 | 16 | final. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
