94 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
105 AN ACT
116 relating to providing public school students tutorials through the
127 state virtual school network for end-of-course assessment
138 instruments required for graduation.
149 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1510 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 29, Education Code, is
1611 amended by adding Section 29.0845 to read as follows:
1712 Sec. 29.0845. ONLINE TUTORIALS FOR END-OF-COURSE
1813 ASSESSMENT INSTRUMENT PREPARATION. (a) The agency shall develop
1914 or contract for the development of interactive electronic tutorials
2015 that provide a comprehensive review for each end-of-course
2116 assessment instrument listed in Section 39.023(c).
2217 (b) From funds appropriated for purposes of this section,
2318 the agency shall make the tutorials developed under Subsection (a)
2419 available to public school students through the state virtual
2520 school network under Chapter 30A.
2621 (b-1) The agency shall provide the tutorials developed
2722 under Subsection (a) through the state virtual school network not
2823 later than the 2016-2017 school year. This subsection expires
2924 September 1, 2017.
3025 (c) A public school student may not be charged a fee for
3126 access to a tutorial provided through the state virtual school
3227 network under this section or materials used in conjunction with a
3328 tutorial.
3429 (d) The commissioner shall adopt rules as necessary to
3530 administer this section.
3631 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3732 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3833 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3934 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4035 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
