| 6 | 6 | | relating to the promotion of tourism related to the musical |

| 7 | 7 | | heritage of this state. |

| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 442, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | adding Section 422.019 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Section 442.019 TEXAS MUSIC HISTORY TRAIL. (a) The |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | commission shall develop a Texas Music History Trail program to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | promote and preserve Texas music history. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (b) The program, at minimum, shall include: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | (1) designation of locations or organizations |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | that are historically significant to this state's musical heritage; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (2) adoption of an icon, symbol, or other |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | identifying device to represent a designation under this section; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (3) the use of the icon, symbol, or other |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | identifying device in promoting tourism around this state by the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | commission and at locations and by organization designated under |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | this section; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (4) the development of itineraries and maps to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | guide tourists to locations or organizations designated under this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | section. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (c) The commission shall adopt: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (1) eligibility criteria for a designation under |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | this section; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (2) procedures to administer the program created |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | under this section. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (d) The commission may, as necessary, enter into a |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | memorandum of understanding with the Economic Development and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Tourism Office of the Governor, Texas Film Commission of the Arts, |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Texas Music Office of the Governor and the Texas Department of |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Transportation to implement this section. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (e) The commission may solicit and accept gifts, grants, and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | other donations from any source to implement this section. |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Section 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
