55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the use of brokerage statements to meet certain
88 requirements for reports of political contributions and
99 expenditures.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 254.036, Election Code, is amended by
1212 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1313 (a-1) A report filed under this chapter may satisfy the
1414 requirements of Sections 254.031(a)(11), (12), and (13) by
1515 including a brokerage statement with the filed report that contains
1616 all of the information required under those sections. The
1717 brokerage statement, if filed by computer diskette, modem, or other
1818 means of electronic transfer, may be submitted in PDF format.
1919 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2020 to a report filed under Chapter 254, Election Code, that is due on
2121 or after the effective date of this Act. A report filed under that
2222 chapter that is due before the effective date of this Act is
2323 governed by the law in effect on the date the report is due, and the
2424 former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2016.
