| 8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 233.061(a), Local Government Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | (a) The commissioners court of a county [with a population | |
| 12 | 12 | of over 250,000 or a county adjacent to a county with a population | |
| 13 | 13 | of over 250,000] may adopt a fire code and rules necessary to | |
| 14 | 14 | administer and enforce the fire code. | |
| 15 | 15 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 16 | 16 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 17 | 17 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 18 | 18 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 19 | 19 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
