                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 84TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 4, 2015      TO: Honorable Myra Crownover, Chair, House Committee on Public Health      FROM: Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB373 by West (Relating to increased oversight by the Department of State Health Services of hospitals that commit certain violations.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Chapter 241 of the Health and Safety Code to require the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to approve, monitor, and enforce a plan of correction submitted by hospitals that commit a violation resulting in a reportable and potentially preventable adverse event. DSHS indicates that any cost to implement provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
