66 AN ACT
77 relating to the classification of exotic and nongame animals.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. Section 43.103(3), Parks and Wildlife Code, is
1010 amended to read as follows:
1111 (3) "Exotic animals" includes exotic livestock and
1212 exotic fowl as defined by Section 161.001(a), Agriculture Code,
1313 wild animals that are nonindigenous to Texas, and aoudad sheep[,
1414 and elk].
1515 SECTION 2. Section 62.015(a), Parks and Wildlife Code, is
1616 amended to read as follows:
1717 (a) In this section, "exotic animal" means exotic livestock
1818 or exotic fowl as defined by Section 161.001(a), Agriculture Code,
1919 and aoudad sheep[, or elk].
2020 SECTION 3. Section 67.0011, Parks and Wildlife Code, is
2121 amended to read as follows:
2222 Sec. 67.0011. EXEMPTIONS [EXEMPTION OF CRAYFISH]. This
2323 chapter does not apply to:
2424 (1) crayfish, other than in public water; or
2525 (2) elk.
2626 SECTION 4. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
2727 an offense committed on or after the effective date of this Act. An
2828 offense committed before the effective date of this Act is covered
2929 by the law in effect when the offense was committed, and the former
3030 law is continued in effect for that purpose. For purposes of this
3131 section, an offense was committed before the effective date of this
3232 Act if any element of the offense was committed before that date.
3333 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3434 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3535 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3636 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3737 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
