9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 84.001(d), Election Code, is amended to | |
11 | 11 | read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (d) An application must be submitted [by mail] to the early | |
13 | 13 | voting clerk for the election who serves the election precinct of | |
14 | 14 | the applicant's residence. | |
15 | 15 | SECTION 2. Section 84.007(b), Election Code, is amended to | |
16 | 16 | read as follows: | |
17 | 17 | (b) An application must be submitted to the early voting | |
18 | 18 | clerk by: | |
19 | 19 | (1) mail; | |
20 | 20 | (2) common or contract carrier; [or] | |
21 | 21 | (3) telephonic facsimile machine, if a machine is | |
22 | 22 | available in the clerk's office; or | |
23 | 23 | (4) electronic submission of the application, if | |
24 | 24 | authorized by the clerk. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
26 | 26 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
27 | 27 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
28 | 28 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
29 | 29 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
