66 AN ACT
77 relating to the electronic submission of an application to vote by
88 mail.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 84.001(d), Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (d) An application must be submitted [by mail] to the early
1313 voting clerk for the election who serves the election precinct of
1414 the applicant's residence.
1515 SECTION 2. Section 84.007(b), Election Code, is amended to
1616 read as follows:
1717 (b) An application must be submitted to the early voting
1818 clerk by:
1919 (1) mail;
2020 (2) common or contract carrier; [or]
2121 (3) telephonic facsimile machine, if a machine is
2222 available in the clerk's office; or
2323 (4) electronic submission of the application, if
2424 authorized by the clerk.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
