| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 551, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 551.057 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 551.057. INTERNET POSTING INSTEAD OF NEWSPAPER | |
| 13 | 13 | POSTING. Notwithstanding any other law, a governmental body that | |
| 14 | 14 | is required by law to post notice of a meeting in a newspaper may | |
| 15 | 15 | instead post notice of the meeting on the Internet. A governmental | |
| 16 | 16 | body that is required by law to post notice of a meeting on the | |
| 17 | 17 | Internet is not required to post notice in a newspaper. | |
| 18 | 18 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to | |
| 19 | 19 | notice of a meeting that is required to be posted on or after the | |
| 20 | 20 | effective date of this Act. Notice that is required to be posted | |
| 21 | 21 | before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in | |
| 22 | 22 | effect at that time, and that law is continued in effect for that | |
| 23 | 23 | purpose. | |
| 24 | 24 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
