11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. STUDY AND RECOMMENDATIONS. The Texas Judicial | |
13 | 13 | Council shall: | |
14 | 14 | (1) conduct a study and make recommendations regarding | |
15 | 15 | whether it is advisable for the court of criminal appeals and the | |
16 | 16 | supreme court to be consolidated or for one court to be abolished | |
17 | 17 | and its functions and jurisdiction transferred to the other court; | |
18 | 18 | and | |
19 | 19 | (2) if the Texas Judicial Council recommends | |
20 | 20 | consolidating the courts or abolishing a court under Subdivision | |
21 | 21 | (1) of this section, develop and propose a transition plan to | |
22 | 22 | implement that recommendation. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. REPORT. Not later than December 1, 2016, the | |
24 | 24 | Texas Judicial Council shall report the council's findings and | |
25 | 25 | recommendations required by this Act to the governor and the | |
26 | 26 | members of the legislature. The report must include the Texas | |
27 | 27 | Judicial Council's proposed transition plan, if applicable, | |
28 | 28 | required by Section 1(2) of this Act. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act takes effect September | |
30 | 30 | 1, 2015. |
