| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Chapter 3101, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |

| 12 | 12 | | CHAPTER 3101. STATE SYMBOLS AND LANGUAGE |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 2. Chapter 3101, Government Code, is amended by |

| 14 | 14 | | designating Sections 3101.001 through 3101.012 as Subchapter A and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | adding a subchapter heading to read as follows: |

| 22 | 22 | | Sec. 3101.052. STATE DOCUMENTS AND MATERIALS. (a) In this |

| 23 | 23 | | section, "state agency" means a department, commission, board, |

| 24 | 24 | | office, council, authority, or other agency in the executive, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | judicial, or legislative branch of state government that is created |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | by the constitution or a statute of this state, including a |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | university system or institution of higher education as defined by |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Section 61.003, Education Code. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (b) Except as otherwise provided by law, including the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | federal Voting Rights Act (42 U.S.C. Section 1973c et seq.), a state |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | agency may not provide documents, publish written materials, or |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provide website content in any language other than the official |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | language of this state. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | SECTION 4. Section 2054.116, Government Code, is repealed. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
