| 10 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 28.023(c-1), Education Code, is amended |
|---|
| 12 | 10 | | to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 11 | | (c-1) A school district shall give a student in grade level |
|---|
| 14 | 12 | | six or above credit for a subject if the student scores: |
|---|
| 15 | 13 | | (1) a three or higher on an advanced placement |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | examination approved by the board of trustees under Subsection (a) |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | and developed by the College Board; or |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | (2) a scaled score of 50 [60] or higher on an |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | examination approved by the board of trustees under Subsection (a) |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | and administered through the College-Level Examination Program. |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | school year. |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 24 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 25 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
