| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 85.001(a), Election Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | (a) The period for early voting by personal appearance |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | begins on the 17th day before election day and continues through the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | second [fourth] day before election day, except as otherwise |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | provided by this section. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | SECTION 2. Sections 85.006(a) and (c), Election Code, are |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (a) The [Except as provided by Subsection (b), the] |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | authority ordering an election shall [may] order early voting by |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | personal appearance at the main early voting polling place to be |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | conducted on each Saturday and Sunday [one or more Saturdays or |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Sundays] during the early voting period. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (c) The authority ordering voting [on a Saturday or Sunday] |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | shall determine the hours during which voting is to be conducted on |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Saturday and on Sunday. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. Sections 85.007(a) and (b), Election Code, are |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (a) The election order and the election notice must state: |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (1) the date that early voting will begin if under |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Section 85.001(d) the early voting period is to begin later than the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | prescribed date; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (2) the regular dates and hours that voting will be |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | conducted under Section 85.005(b); and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (3) the dates and hours that voting on Saturday and on |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | [or] Sunday is ordered to be conducted under Section 85.006(a). |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (b) The early voting clerk shall post notice for each |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | election stating the dates and hours that voting on [a] Saturday and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | on [or] Sunday is ordered to be conducted under Section 85.006 |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | [85.006(b)]. |

| 39 | 39 | | SECTION 4. The following provisions of the Election Code |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | are repealed: |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | (1) Section 85.001(e); and |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | (2) Sections 85.006(b) and (d). |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
