| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 5A(a)(5), Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (5) "Site selection organization" means: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (A) the National Football League, the National |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Basketball |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Association, ESPN, the National Hockey League, Major League |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Baseball, the Federation Internationale de Football Association |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | (FIFA), the International World Games Association, or the United |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | States Olympic Committee; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (B) the national governing body of a sport that |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the National |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Thoroughbred Racing Association, Formula One Management Limited, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | or the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (C) the Academy of Country Music; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (D) the National Cutting Horse Association; [or] |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (E) the Republican National Committee or the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Democratic National Committee; or |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (F) an entity that selects a site to conduct, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | considers conducting, or conducts in this state an event listed in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Subdivision (4) of this subsection. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | SECTION 2. The amendment made by this Act to Section |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 5A(a)(5), Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Statutes), is intended only to clarify existing law with respect to |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | the eligibility of certain events to receive funding from the Major |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Events trust fund. |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
