| 9 | 7 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 8 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, |
|---|
| 11 | 9 | | is amended by adding Section 225.102 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 10 | | Sec. 225.102. WILLIAM B. CROOKER MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. |
|---|
| 13 | 11 | | (a) Notwithstanding Section 225.001(c), the portion of U.S. |
|---|
| 14 | 12 | | Highway 87 under construction as of September 1, 2015, as a relief |
|---|
| 15 | 13 | | route around Big Spring, between Interstate Highway 20 and Ranch |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | Road 33, in Howard County is designated as the William B. Crooker |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | Memorial Highway. The designation is in addition to any other |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | designation. |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall: |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | (1) design and construct markers indicating the |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | designation as the William B. Crooker Memorial Highway and any |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | other appropriate information; and |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | SECTION 2. The Texas Department of Transportation shall |
|---|
| 26 | 24 | | comply with Section 225.102, Transportation Code, as added by this |
|---|
| 27 | 25 | | Act, after the construction of the portion of U.S. Highway 87 |
|---|
| 28 | 26 | | designated as the William B. Crooker Memorial Highway by this Act is |
|---|
| 29 | 27 | | complete. |
|---|
| 30 | 28 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
