75 relating to the service areas of certain junior college districts.
86 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
97 SECTION 1. Section 130.166, Education Code, is amended to
108 read as follows:
119 Sec. 130.166. AUSTIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT SERVICE
1210 AREA. The service area of the Austin Community College District
1311 includes the territory within:
1412 (1) Hays, [Gillespie,] Caldwell, and Blanco counties;
1513 (2) Travis County, except the territory within the
1614 Marble Falls Independent School District;
1715 (3) Williamson County, except the territory within the
1816 Florence, Granger, Hutto, Lexington, Taylor, and Thrall
1917 independent school districts;
2018 (4) [the part of the Nixon-Smiley Consolidated
2119 Independent School District located in Gonzales County;
2220 [(5)] the part of the San Marcos Consolidated
2321 Independent School District located in Guadalupe County;
2422 (5) [(6)] Bastrop County, except the territory within
2523 the Lexington Independent School District;
2624 (6) [(7)] the part of the Elgin Independent School
2725 District located in Lee County; and
2826 (7) [(8)] the part of the Smithville Independent
2927 School District located in Fayette County.
3028 SECTION 2. Section 130.171, Education Code, is amended to
3129 read as follows:
3230 Sec. 130.171. CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE DISTRICT SERVICE AREA.
3331 The service area of the Central Texas College District includes the
3432 territory within:
3533 (1) the Killeen Independent School District, located
3634 in Bell County;
3735 (2) the Copperas Cove Independent School District,
3836 located in Coryell County;
3937 (3) Fort Hood and North Fort Hood, located in Bell
4038 County;
4139 (4) Coryell, Gillespie, Hamilton, Lampasas, Llano,
4240 Mason, Mills, and San Saba counties;
4341 (5) the Brady, Lohn, and Rochelle independent school
4442 districts located in McCullough County;
4543 (6) the Burnet Consolidated Independent School
4644 District located in Burnet County;
4745 (7) the Florence Independent School District;
4846 (8) the part of the Lampasas Independent School
4947 District that is located in Burnet County;
5048 (9) the part of the Lampasas Independent School
5149 District that is located in Bell County;
5250 (10) the part of the Copperas Cove Independent School
5351 District that is located in Bell County; and
5452 (11) the Marble Falls Independent School District.
5553 SECTION 3. Section 130.208, Education Code, is amended to
5654 read as follows:
5755 Sec. 130.208. THE VICTORIA COLLEGE DISTRICT SERVICE AREA.
5856 The service area of The Victoria College District includes the
5957 territory within:
6058 (1) Victoria, Lavaca, DeWitt, Gonzales, and Calhoun
6159 counties;
6260 (2) Jackson County, except the territory within the
6361 Ganado Independent School District; and
6462 (3) Refugio County, except the territory within the
6563 Woodsboro Independent School District[; and
6664 [(4) Gonzales County, except the territory within the
6765 Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District].
6866 SECTION 4. The change in law made by this Act applies
6967 beginning with the 2015 fall semester, except that during the
7068 2015-2016 academic year the Austin Community College District may
7169 continue to treat the areas removed by this Act from the district's
7270 service area as if the areas were still in the district's service
7371 area as necessary to avoid an unreasonable interruption of junior
7472 college services in the areas.
7573 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
7674 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
7775 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
7876 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
7977 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
