66 AN ACT
77 relating to the termination of a volunteer deputy registrar
88 appointment.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 13.033(b), Election Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (b) If a person is to be appointed, the registrar shall
1313 prepare a certificate of appointment in duplicate containing:
1414 (1) the date of appointment;
1515 (2) the statement: "I, ____________, Voter Registrar
1616 for ____________ County, do hereby appoint ____________ as a
1717 volunteer deputy registrar for ____________ County.";
1818 (3) the person's residence address;
1919 (4) the person's voter registration number, if any;
2020 (5) a statement that the term of the appointment
2121 expires December 31 of an even-numbered year; and
2222 (6) a statement that the appointment terminates on the
2323 person's final conviction for an offense for failure to deliver a
2424 registration application and may terminate on the registrar's
2525 determination that the person failed to adequately review a
2626 registration application or engaged in any other activity that the
2727 registrar considers a violation of the responsibilities of a
2828 volunteer deputy registrar under this chapter.
2929 SECTION 2. Section 13.036(b), Election Code, is amended to
3030 read as follows:
3131 (b) The registrar may terminate the appointment of a
3232 volunteer deputy registrar on a determination by the registrar that
3333 the volunteer deputy:
3434 (1) failed to adequately review a registration
3535 application as required by Section 13.039; or
3636 (2) engaged in any other activity that the registrar
3737 considers a violation of the responsibilities of a volunteer deputy
3838 registrar under this chapter.
3939 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
