95 relating to the licensing of vehicles for hire and passenger
106 transportation services by certain airport governing boards;
117 authorizing the imposition of fees; expanding the authorization to
128 require an occupational license; amending a provision subject to a
139 criminal penalty.
1410 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1511 SECTION 1. Section 22.081, Transportation Code, is amended
1612 to read as follows:
1713 Sec. 22.081. [TAXICAB] LICENSING OF VEHICLES FOR HIRE AND
1814 PASSENGER TRANSPORTATION SERVICES. (a) A joint board may license
1915 taxicabs transporting passengers to or from the airport and impose
2016 fees for issuing the licenses.
2117 (b) A joint board for which the constituent agencies are
2218 populous home-rule municipalities may:
2319 (1) license vehicles for hire, including taxicabs, and
2420 passenger transportation services providing services to or from the
2521 airport for compensation; and
2622 (2) impose fees for issuing the licenses.
2723 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2824 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2925 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3026 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3127 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
