11	11	AN ACT
12	12	relating to the eligibility of presidential general election
13	13	debates for distributions from a Major Events trust fund.
14	14	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
15	15	SECTION 1. Sections 5A(a)(4) and (5), Chapter 1507 (S.B.
16	16	456), Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article
17	17	5190.14, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), are amended to read as
18	18	follows:
19	19	(4) "Event" means a Super Bowl, a National Collegiate
20	20	Athletic Association Final Four tournament game, the National
21	21	Basketball Association All-Star Game, the X Games, the National
22	22	Hockey League All-Star Game, the Major League Baseball All-Star
23	23	Game, a game of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Bowl
24	24	Championship Series or its successor or a National Collegiate
25	25	Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision
26	26	postseason playoff or championship game, a World Cup Soccer game,
27	27	the World Games, a national collegiate championship of an amateur
28	28	sport sanctioned by the national governing body of the sport that is
29	29	recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, an Olympic
30	30	activity, including a Junior or Senior activity, training program,
31	31	or feeder program sanctioned by the United States Olympic
32	32	Committee's Community Olympic Development Program, a mixed martial
33	33	arts championship, the Breeders' Cup World Championships, a Formula
34	34	One automobile race, the Academy of Country Music Awards, the
35	35	National Cutting Horse Association Triple Crown, a presidential
36	36	general election debate, a national political convention of the
37	37	Republican National Committee or the Democratic National
38	38	Committee, or the largest event held each year at a sports
39	39	entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
40	40	capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of not less
41	41	than 125,000. The term includes any activities related to or
42	42	associated with an event.
43	43	(5) "Site selection organization" means:
44	44	(A) the National Football League, the National
45	45	Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Basketball
46	46	Association, the National Hockey League, Major League Baseball, the
47	47	Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the
48	48	International World Games Association, or the United States Olympic
49	49	Committee;
50	50	(B) the national governing body of a sport that
51	51	is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee, the National
52	52	Thoroughbred Racing Association, Formula One Management Limited,
53	53	or the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile;
54	54	(C) the Academy of Country Music;
55	55	(D) the National Cutting Horse Association; [or]
56	56	(E) the Republican National Committee or the
57	57	Democratic National Committee; or
58	58	(F) the Commission on Presidential Debates.
59	59	SECTION 2. Section 5A, Chapter 1507 (S.B. 456), Acts of the
60	60	76th Legislature, Regular Session, 1999 (Article 5190.14, Vernon's
61	61	Texas Civil Statutes), is amended by adding Subsection (a-3) to
62	62	read as follows:
63	63	(a-3) For purposes of Subsection (a-1) of this section, each
64	64	presidential general election debate in a series of presidential
65	65	debates before a general election is considered a separate, single
66	66	event.
67	67	SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
