| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 51.303, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (d) On application by any person, the clerk of a district |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | court shall promptly produce the index of the parties to all suits, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | or a portion of the index, not otherwise confidential by law for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | inspection or copying. If the index is in an electronic form, the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | clerk shall provide an electronic copy of the index or the portion |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of the index for a fee set in accordance with the rules prescribed |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | by the attorney general that are applicable to the provision of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | electronic copies of public information. |

| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter D, Chapter 101, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | amended by adding Section 101.06111 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Sec. 101.06111. ADDITIONAL DISTRICT COURT FEES: GOVERNMENT |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | CODE. The clerk of a district court shall collect a fee for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | providing an electronic copy of the index of the parties to all |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | suits, or a portion of the index, not otherwise confidential by law |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | under Section 51.303, Government Code, in an amount set in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | accordance with the rules prescribed by the attorney general that |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | are applicable to the provision of electronic copies of public |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | information. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
