66 AN ACT
77 relating to an individual's eligibility to receive unemployment
88 compensation benefits on the individual's waiting period claim.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 207.021(c), Labor Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, an
1313 individual is eligible to receive benefits on the individual's
1414 waiting period claim in accordance with this subtitle if the
1515 individual:
1616 (1) [who] has been totally or partially unemployed for
1717 at least seven consecutive days and has returned to full-time
1818 employment; or
1919 (2) has exhausted the individual's regular benefits
2020 for the current benefit year, other than benefits applicable to the
2121 waiting period [paid benefits in the individual's current benefit
2222 year equal to or exceeding three times the individual's benefit
2323 amount is eligible to receive benefits on the individual's waiting
2424 period claim in accordance with this subtitle].
2525 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2626 to a claim for unemployment compensation benefits filed with the
2727 Texas Workforce Commission on or after the effective date of this
2828 Act. A claim filed before the effective date of this Act is
2929 governed by the law in effect on the date the claim was filed, and
3030 the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
3131 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
