| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 403, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adding Subchapter R to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | SUBCHAPTER R. STATE MINT |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 403.501. STATE MINT FOR COMMEMORATIVE COINS. (a) The |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | comptroller shall contract with a private vendor to manufacture and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | sell commemorative coins. The vendor with which the comptroller |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | contracts is designated the official state mint. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (b) The commemorative coins issued under this section must |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | include an image of a president of the Republic of Texas. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (c) Revenue received under this section shall be deposited |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in the general revenue fund. |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Sec. 403.502. ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON STATE MINT. The |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | comptroller shall appoint an advisory committee to determine the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | design of the commemorative coins. The advisory committee shall |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | solicit proposed designs with an image of a president of the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Republic of Texas and determine the most appropriate design for the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | commemorative coins. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Sec. 403.503. ANNUAL REPORT. Not later than December 1 of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | each year, the comptroller shall report on the status and any |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | revenue received from the sale of the commemorative coins. The |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | comptroller shall publish the report on the comptroller's Internet |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | website. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 2. (a) Not later than August 31, 2016, the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | comptroller shall solicit bids and proposals and award a contract |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | for the manufacture and sale of the commemorative coins as provided |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | by Section 403.501, Government Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | (b) Not later than December 1, 2017, the comptroller shall |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | publish the first report under Section 403.503, Government Code, as |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | added by this Act. |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
|---|
