9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 7, Education Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 7.114 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 7.114. SUNSET PROVISION. The State Board of Education | |
13 | 13 | is subject to review under Chapter 325, Government Code (Texas | |
14 | 14 | Sunset Act), but is not abolished under that chapter. The board | |
15 | 15 | shall be reviewed during the periods in which state agencies | |
16 | 16 | scheduled to be abolished in 2017 and every 12th year after that | |
17 | 17 | year are reviewed. | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
19 | 19 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
20 | 20 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
21 | 21 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
22 | 22 | Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
