The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to require a criminal defendant to pay only one set of court costs rather than separate court costs on each count of a multi-count indictment. The provisions of the bill would not apply to certain offenses punishable by fine only. The Office of Court Administration indicates that because the bill would align the law with actual current practice, no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated.
