| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 508.141(g-1), Government Code, is | |
| 12 | 12 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (g-1) The month designated under Subsection (g)(1) by the | |
| 14 | 14 | parole panel that denied release must begin after the first | |
| 15 | 15 | anniversary of the date of the denial and end before the fifth | |
| 16 | 16 | anniversary of the date of the denial, unless the inmate is serving | |
| 17 | 17 | a sentence for an offense under Section 22.021, Penal Code, or a | |
| 18 | 18 | life sentence for a capital felony, in which event the designated | |
| 19 | 19 | month must begin after the first anniversary of the date of the | |
| 20 | 20 | denial and end before the 10th anniversary of the date of the | |
| 21 | 21 | denial. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. The Board of Pardons and Paroles shall adopt a | |
| 23 | 23 | policy consistent with Section 508.141(g-1), Government Code, as | |
| 24 | 24 | amended by this Act, as soon as practicable after the effective date | |
| 25 | 25 | of this Act. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
