66 AN ACT
77 relating to the frequency with which the Board of Pardons and
88 Paroles considers the eligibility of certain inmates for release on
99 parole.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 508.141(g-1), Government Code, is
1212 amended to read as follows:
1313 (g-1) The month designated under Subsection (g)(1) by the
1414 parole panel that denied release must begin after the first
1515 anniversary of the date of the denial and end before the fifth
1616 anniversary of the date of the denial, unless the inmate is serving
1717 a sentence for an offense under Section 22.021, Penal Code, or a
1818 life sentence for a capital felony, in which event the designated
1919 month must begin after the first anniversary of the date of the
2020 denial and end before the 10th anniversary of the date of the
2121 denial.
2222 SECTION 2. The Board of Pardons and Paroles shall adopt a
2323 policy consistent with Section 508.141(g-1), Government Code, as
2424 amended by this Act, as soon as practicable after the effective date
2525 of this Act.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
