97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 18, Election Code, is
119 amended by adding Section 18.062 to read as follows:
1210 Sec. 18.062. INTERSTATE VOTER REGISTRATION CROSSCHECK
1311 PROGRAM. (a) To maintain the statewide voter registration list
1412 and to prevent duplication of registration in more than one state or
1513 jurisdiction, the secretary of state shall cooperate with other
1614 states and jurisdictions to develop systems to compare voters,
1715 voter history, and voter registration lists to identify voters
1816 whose addresses have changed.
1917 (b) A system developed under this section must comply with
2018 the National Voter Registration Act (52 U.S.C. Section 20501 et
2119 seq.).
2220 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2321 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2422 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2523 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2624 Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
