75 relating to occupational license application and examination fees
86 for certain military service members, military veterans, and
97 military spouses.
108 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
119 SECTION 1. Chapter 55, Occupations Code, is amended by
1210 adding Section 55.009 to read as follows:
1311 Sec. 55.009. LICENSE APPLICATION AND EXAMINATION FEES.
1412 Notwithstanding any other law, a state agency that issues a license
1513 shall waive the license application and examination fees paid to
1614 the state for an applicant who is:
1715 (1) a military service member or military veteran
1816 whose military service, training, or education substantially meets
1917 all of the requirements for the license; or
2018 (2) a military service member, military veteran, or
2119 military spouse who holds a current license issued by another
2220 jurisdiction that has licensing requirements that are
2321 substantially equivalent to the requirements for the license in
2422 this state.
2523 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
2624 an application for an occupational license filed on or after the
2725 effective date of this Act. An application for a license filed
2826 before the effective date of this Act is governed by the law in
2927 effect immediately before that date, and that law is continued in
3028 effect for that purpose.
3129 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015.
